John Glenn High School
General Parent Info
Welcome to John Glenn Athletics. The athletic programs at JGHS are an extension of the classroom. We stress the co-existence of academics and athletics and firmly believe you cannot have one without the other. Many long lasting life skills and friendships are developed during team participation. We hope that your son or daughter will find an opportunity that appeals to him or her and get involved. The following information pertains to the athletic opportunities currently available at our schools
ATHLETIC REGISTRATION PROCEDURES
Athletic registration for the current academic school year must be done online and physical forms must be turned in to the athletic office prior to being allowed to participate in athletics. Please see the athletic registration link on our website.
INFORMED CONSENT
By its nature, participation in interscholastic athletics includes risk of injury which may range in severity. Although serious injuries are not common in supervised school athletic programs, it is impossible to eliminate the risk. Participants have the responsibility to help reduce the chance of injury. Players must obey all safety rules, report all physical problems to their coaches, follow a proper conditioning program, and inspect their own equipment daily.
INSURANCE
Athletes are covered under their own home policies. The district does provide supplemental insurance to assist with costs from injuries that are incurred during practices or games that are not covered by a home policy.
TRYOUT INFORMATION
Fall tryouts begin in early August.
Winter tryouts begin in November.
Spring tryouts begin in March.
Tryouts for Fall Cheerleading will take place in the Spring.
For information about our specific sports, tryout dates or other information, please contact the head coach for daily schedules and general questions.
